Cool down with this quintessentially Canadian iced coffee, inspired by the products that would have been in sailing ships plying the seas between Canada and the Caribbean during the 1800s, like coffee and molasses. We use here a premixed molasses – maple syrup from Crosbys called Fusion, which adds classic Canadian notes of maple alongside the spicy bite of molasses. Saltwinds Maple flavoured coffee adds another layer of mapley sweetness, without adding any additional sugar. Rounding out the drink, oat milk makes a perfect nondairy choice to pair with these flavours and round out this refreshing iced beverage.

    Steps

    1
    Done

    Prepare the coffee

Place the ground coffee in a french press and pour over the boiling water. Stir, then start a four minute timer and place the lid back on the french press without pressing down the plunger. Once the four minutes have elapsed, slowly depress the plunger all the way to the bottom of the press.

    Done

    Make the oat-molasses cream

In a large mason jar, pour in the oat milk and Crosbys Fusion syrup. Cap the jar and shake vigorously until thoroughly mixed. Alternately, the oat milk and syrup can be whisked together in a bowl. A milk frother can be used to get extra foam. Extra oat molasses cream can be stored in the fridge - shake before use.

    Done

    Serve

Fill four glasses with ice cubes, and divide the hot coffee between the glasses. Slowly pour the oat-molasses cream over the hot coffee to create a layered effect. Serve and enjoy!
